Visit Little Thatch Island on your British Virgin Islands Yacht Charter. It is a delightful, 54-acre privately owned island with a resort. The island is located less than 500 yards from the western end of Tortola. It’s also less than a mile from Saint John, United States Virgin Islands.
Currently, the owners of Otterbox own Little Thatch. It is next to Great Thatch Island, a part of the BVI national parks. The island is believed to take its name from the famous pirate Edward Teach (better known as “Blackbeard”), although there is little evidence Blackbeard ever sailed in the Virgin Islands.
The weather on Little Thatch Island is typical of paradise — warm and sunny. However, at times the temperatures can get rather hot and humid so it is important to stay well-hydrated.
Due to strong currents and shallow reefs, it is not possible to anchor at Little Thatch Island. If you are going to anchor it has to be in over 50′ of water to be at a safe distance from the reefs.
