Virgin Islands Catamaran Pentesilea 2 is a Privilege 48ft catamaran sleeping 8 guests in four en-suite cabins.
Introducing Captain/Chef Cassandra Contreras and Chef/Captain/Dive Instructor Jason Kuzcek.
Cassandra and Jason have been exploring together for sixteen years, and both share a love for travel, adventurous activities, cooking, diving, and being on the ocean.
Jason was born and raised exploring the Colorado Rockies. He learned early on that he was a natural explorer, having a passion for hiking, rock climbing, camping, and anything else that could keep him outdoors gathering new experiences.
In his mid-teens, he spent a summer sailing and diving in the Channel Islands where he fell in love with the ocean. His high school years were spent working as a Rescue Diver and Divemaster, gaining experience working with student divers in a wide variety of environments.
At 18, Jason became a scuba instructor, spending the next 7 years island hopping throughout the Caribbean, transitioning from diver to boat Captain while working in the Cayman Islands. He then returned to Colorado to manage a diving operation and travel agency in the foothills of Boulder.
For the next several years, Jason guided monthly dive trips around the world, escorting groups of divers to destinations in the South Pacific, Galapagos, Caribbean, British Columbia, Australia, and Norway.
In Boulder, Jason met his wife Cassandra. Together, they traveled to the Caribbean to dive in the Florida Keys and Bahamas. After a year of adventures, they returned to Colorado to finish their undergraduate studies. There, Jason delved into endurance sports, training, and nutrition. Next, they moved to New Orleans for graduate studies, where they immersed themselves in the city’s rich culture and history.
In New Orleans, Jason found a new passion: Creole, French, and Spanish cuisine. Fresh seafood, spices, and chefs like John Besh and Emeril Lagasse inspired him, teaching him the importance of fresh ingredients, tradition, and creative technique. His food will blow you away and you will not leave Pentesilea hungry!!!
Cassandra grew up in South Texas dancing and dreaming of the ocean. Starting out on tubes and canoes on the Texas rivers, her love for travel and the water eventually led to a U.S. Coast Guard 50-ton Masters’s license. From an early age, she explored the Caribbean. By her late teens, she was a certified SCUBA diver, diving deep into the ocean. Her love for the sea grew, and she moved to the Florida Keys to pursue sailing and boating.
She dedicated years to non-profit work but always made time to sail, dive, and feed her love of the ocean. This passion grew when she and Jason moved to the Virgin Islands, where she’s been a professional sailor for years. Between work and play on the water, she still dances, runs, crafts, and cooks with Jason, her husband of ten years.
Cassandra holds a 50-ton U.S. Coast Guard Master license, is a PADI rescue diver, speaks Spanish, and has a Master’s degree from Tulane University. Her top priority is her guests’ comfort and safety, followed closely by ensuring they enjoy their time on the islands. She looks forward to welcoming you aboard Pentesilea.
Cass and Jason are a young, energetic couple that has a ton of experience both on the water and under it. They are both Captains, both professional divers, and both chefs!!! Hence, these fun-loving, professional pairs make the perfect crew to show you around the Virgin Islands!!
