I was invited to enjoy a brokers’ luncheon on board Virgin Islands catamaran charter Fuerte 3 at this year’s BVI Boat Show in Tortola. The crew, David and Dawn Chown, are one of those couples who are so naturally hospitable that the moment you’re with them you instantly relax, which was a wonderful change of pace from the busyness of the show.
David quickly offered me a seat and a cold drink inside the spacious salon where the other brokers and I gathered around the tastefully set table. Dawn designed a lighter menu of two beautiful, satisfying salads without spoiling the wonderful desserts ahead.
The first salad was a Tropical Shrimp Salad that featured big, chilled shrimp drizzled with a tropical glaze. Next was a Filet Steak served over a Mixed Bean Salad. Cooked to a tender medium-rare, the steak was also chilled and served over a presentation of a mixed bean salad with fresh greens, cucumber, and tomato.
Thankfully Dawn and David both mentioned that dessert was both plentiful and decadent; I definitely wanted to save room for this flight of chocolate desserts. I was so thankful that I had!
Each guest was served a plate with a serving of three of Dawn’s specialty chocolate treats. The first was a Rich rum-soaked Chocolate Mousse with a Sweet Biscuit Base. The mousse was airy and settled perfectly on top of the sweet biscuit. On the opposite side of the plate was a rich Rum and Chocolate Cheesecake that offered a balance to the airiness of the mousse. Served in the middle was a cool and creamy Chocolate Custard with Dark Chocolate tidbits that brought the other desserts together to create a harmonious trio.
Both thoughtful and entertaining, I could easily see the simple elegance and hospitality David and Dawn are bringing to their guests on Virgin Islands charter catamaran Fuerte 3.
