Introducing: The new Oyster 100 Sailboat Charter: PENELOPE
We are proud to include the recently launched Oyster 100 by Dubois, Penelope into the Oyster Charter fleet. This custom-built superyacht will be available for charter this winter season in the Caribbean from December 2013.
A performance-orientated hull shape from Dubois, powered by a sport rig, carbon spars, and North Sails Spectra Carbon sails, achieves outstanding performance even in the lightest of winds. In-boom furling transforms the raising, setting and lowering of the main to a single lever operation at the helm station. All on-deck features are designed to put the true sailing enthusiast in full command of this stunning Oyster 100 by Dubois, whilst also enjoying the thrill of helming such a fast and responsive yacht.
Sailboat charter Penelope offers a class-leading amount of usable living space. Stepping onboard for the first time you are immediately struck by the spacious, flush deck and overwhelmed by the incredible amount of interior volume. The accommodation layout offers three staterooms located aft of the saloon. The master cabin with a king-sized bed and a private en-suite shower and head. The two family/guest staterooms have two large single beds, which are fitted on slide rails that can be pushed together to form a large double bed. The third fold-down bed is also available. Each with a private head and shower. A raised saloon offers a panoramic view and leads forward and down to a more intimate lounge and separate dining area. Forward the main living area is the crew galley and two crew cabins.
Captain Mark Durham is from England and has been sailing since he was 8 years old. Now 41, he holds a Master 200 ticket and still has the passion for sailing that he had as a small boy sailing around the Solent on his father’s boat. In 2002 he sailed the Contessa 32 with his wife and father across the Atlantic to Antigua, and it was here that he began his professional career as a yacht captain aboard an Oyster 66. He has since sailed over 90,000 sea miles, not only in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, but also to exotic destinations such as French Polynesia, Chilean Patagonia, Antarctica and the Falkland Islands.
Before working in the yachting industry Mark worked for the UN as an EU Fisheries Officer on board foreign fishing vessels in the North and South Atlantic. He gained his Yachtmaster in 2001. He is a qualified commercial diver and PADI dive master, and he used to run one of London’s biggest water-sport’s stores. His passion for diving and underwater photography led to an adventure in 1999 when he and his wife made a year’s diving and driving expedition from Cape Town to Kenya, as they documented dive sites and dive centres for an online travel guide and hardback travel publications.
Mark’s easygoing and welcoming nature makes guests feel instantly ‘at home’. He will be joined by three crew aboard sailboat charter Penelope.
