Catamaran yacht charter OTTERSIDE Crew Profile of Captain Jon and Chef Nia. Jonathan and Nia are an enthusiastic team with many skills. Also, their diverse backgrounds have sculpted a couple full of vigor and excitement for life.

Crew Profile

Captain Jon and Chef Nia

Jonathan and Nia traveled the world for five years. They sailed with the wind as their engine and the open ocean as their road map. They’ve become seasoned sailors and professional adventures. They’ve also gotten used to braving the unexplored and high seas and experienced new cultures and uninhabited islands. Now settled into the Caribbean lifestyle, they are ready to share the sailing experience of a lifetime. In addition, Jonathan and Nia first met atop Haleakala Volcano on the island of Maui. They set up camp and photographed the night sky.

That began their love for travel, adventure, and each other. Shortly after their first meeting, they set sail from Hawaii to explore the islands of the South Pacific – a journey that would indefinitely shape their lifestyles and love for the sea.

Captain Jon

Jonathan grew up surfing southern California’s coastal waters and has always loved the water. With guitar and a thirst for adventure, he set sail across the ocean as a young man on his 35-foot sloop. Sailing has given Jonathan freedom, a vehicle to explore remote places, and the opportunity to go places where many never venture. Now with an ocean of experience behind him, he is eager to share his expertise in sailing.

Captain Jonathan will treat his guests to vibrant and exciting locations in the British Virgin Islands or wisp them away to secluded and isolated anchorages. He is also ready to shower his guests with classical guitar melodies and share epic stories of the deep blue.

Chef Nia

Chef Nia’s background lies in fine art and photography. Her quest to capture and explore the world’s beauty led her from New York City, where she worked as a photographer, to Hawaii, where she met Jonathan and set out to sea. After years of sailing, Nia has also become an experienced mariner.

As Nia traveled the world, she delved into the cultures and cuisines of the people she met along the way. This, in turn, ignited her passion for the culinary arts. In New Zealand, she was hired and promoted to Sous Chef at a renowned five-star vineyard and cellar door. With talent and a love for food, an opportunity ensued for Chef’s license in commercial cookery. After that, she worked with many talented chefs and gained a wealth of experience in world cuisine.
