BVI Ferry departure Increase

The British Virgin Islands’ ferry departure tax is scheduled to increase as of August 01st, 2013. The new departure tax would be $20.00 per person for visitors and $10.00 per person for residents of the British Virgin Islands.

International ferries operate daily from the British Virgin Islands to the islands of St. John and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. There is also a local ferry service between Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke islands in the BVI.

Ferry tickets can currently only be purchased through individual ferry operators. If you have an upcoming BVI charter within the next two months and have already purchased ferry transfers with us, please contact a Vacation Planner.

Since the decline of large aircraft service between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the BVI, Ferry service from St. Thomas to Tortola has gained in traffic. Hence more yacht charterers and visitors are using the ferry service between St. Thomas and Tortola.

The main ferry terminal is placed at the eastern end of Red Hook. So it is approximately a half-hour between getting off the airport and onto your mode of transport.
