Captain Shawn Deweese

He is not only the Captain of August Maverick but also the owner as well as an ocean master. Shawn grew up on the water from Cape Cod, the Caymans, to the lakes in Minnesota.

Additionally, he served nine years in the US Coast Guard as a commanding officer on large cutters. Shawn not only attended the Navy Dive School Salvage Training Center, but he was also an instructor for four years.

With an impressive background and Shawn’s PADI Dive Master license, he will give you the confidence to feel safe and comfortable with experts onboard August Maverick. He also enjoys having children on board. He enjoys teaching them about fishing and having a lot of fun with all the water toys available.

First Mate Victoria Balcheva

Having grown up on Bulgaria‘s Black Sea, Victoria has loved the sea from childhood. She attended International Business Management College. So, she can be a health coach and a fitness instructor.

But her true love is the sea. Victoria earned a Skipper diploma in Greece, where she ran day trips and multi-day cruises. After moving to the USA, she earned her Captain’s license course in the US Coast Guard Academy.

In addition, she is an expert in entertaining guests of all ages. Thus, ensuring guests will have the best time on August Maverick.
